Welcome to the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Local Group of the Scottish Wildlife Trust!

Thank you for visiting our page where we hope you will find the information you need to stay wild in the Northeast of Scotland. If you enjoy social media, hop on over to our Facebook site to read about upcoming events, local consultations and other wildlife related issues.

We are a friendly, active group with the key aims of raising awareness of biodiversity in the Northeast of Scotland and creating opportunities to help safeguard that biodiversity (see full Terms of Reference). We organise a range of nature conservation activities and events including walks, talks, hands on volunteering and community-based skills workshops.

Our local branch members are spread across a large area of the Grampian and we are fortunate to have a variety of Scottish Wildlife Trust local nature reserves located across our region. From the coastal path of Longhaven Cliffs, the ancient forest of Gight Wood on the banks of the River Ythan, the wildflower-rich Coulnacraig Meadow – a mere minnow – to the raised bog of Red Moss in Deeside.

At the end of 2022 the local group acquired funding for its Ranging for Nature project. This allowed us to set up a tree nursery to grow and nurture native trees grown from locally collected seed for planting out in our local reserves and beyond. Read more about Ranging for Nature.
